Loma Prieta Club Barbara Perry Service Award Susan Zerweck In 2007, the 120-year-old Loma Prieta Club initiated an annual award for the the C.T. English Middle School graduate who performs the most community- service hours during their middle-school years.

service is dedicating your time and energy volunteering to help other groups that are in need without any compensation. Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless! This award is named in honor of Barbara Perry, a Loma Prieta Club member and retired C.T. English teacher.

Barbara has passed away, but her desire to honor those who give of themselves will live forever. This year’s honoree, Xuxu Kopcsak- Yeung, performed more than 73 -service hours. She worked with kids with special needs, tutored, helped at events, worked with the National Charity League, and more.

I presented the certificate at the C.T. English graduation in June, and the $250 monetary award at a special ceremony the following week. The Loma Prieta Club is proud to present this award every year.
