It’s been a great summer for high-speed fiber in the Santa Cruz Mountains as Surfnet continues to expand its fiber-internet network to reach more residents. The newest neighborhood to be lit up by Surfnet high- speed fiber-internet access is around Holy City.
Nearly 100 homes near Holy City are now ready for the switch to fiber internet that is fast, reliable, and local. If you haven’t already met him, Gary from the Surfnet sales team is in the neighborhood and available to answer your questions.
The ongoing expansion of fiber in the area is happening thanks to the more than $14 million in state grant funding that Surfnet won to build new fiber infrastructure in the rural areas of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Surfnet’s mission is to bridge the digital divide for communities and businesses in remote areas.
As summer heads toward fall, the fiber installation effort has crossed Highway 17 to support the next phase. It will connect customers on Upper Hutchinson and Riva Ridge roads. Once that work is completed, crews will begin installing Surfnet fiber connections down Summit Road and south on Bear Creek Road.
One question that comes up often is whether Surfnet will continue to offer reliable wireless-internet service. The answer is a resounding yes! As we roll out Surfnet Fiber, we’ll continue to support the hearty infrastructure that powers Surfnet Wireless. We’ve strengthened our wireless systems this year, ensuring that customers served by Surfnet Wireless can continue to depend on it well into the future.
Whether it’s fiber or wireless that’s best for you, we’ve got you covered. Call us at 831- 439-7873, extension 77, or email ken@ ms.surfnetc.com. to learn more.
