Santa Cruz Mountain Archery has opened a new range at the beautiful Nestldown Therapeutic Riding Center, off Old Santa Cruz Highway near Summit Road. Range master Cris Vaughan has been a USA Archery-certified instructor since 2017. She has taught hundreds of people the fundamentals of this very accessible sport. As an approved vendor with Girl Scouts of Northern California, she makes safety her top priority, while keeping things fun. Many of her students return to hone their skills.

Satisfied Customer Surfnet Fiber Kevin McKinney Our home is finally connected to Surfnet high-speed fiber, and we are thrilled. Gone are the days of dropping out of important work meetings because Comcast internet suddenly drops…for the tenth time in a day.

Gone are the days of hastily slapping down my own video to save a Zoom meeting from an “unstable internet connection” warning. Surfnet came out to survey our property for the connection on a Friday, and by early the next week, Lawrence and Kenneth were onsite to get us up and running.

Ours was not an easy job, and we did have several hiccups. Lawrence, however, worked patiently and creatively to problem solve and ensure that our new connection delivered maximum speed for our business needs. They pulled new and improved cables through our existing conduits through the woods, guided and helped us update our router, and they got new wifi mesh receivers working at key points about our property.

My favorite moment was when I was registering a solid 100 megabits-per-second in my office. I was satisfied. Cool. Lawrence and Kenneth looked at each other and shook their heads. “No, we can do way better.” They then proceeded to spend the next several hours pulling a fresh wire to the office resulting in a 5X speed improvement.

Dependability was our main objective in switching from Comcast to Surfnet, but our speeds have changed from 100 mbps to 500 mbps (now bi-directional speed!) in our office and from 10mbps to 100 mbps across our entire two-acre property. We signed up for the lowest speed Surfnet offers, that meets our needs for zoom meetings and large CAD file uploads quite well.

We now have lightning-fast internet that hasn’t gone out once! We are thrilled to have reliable high-speed internet in the mountains, finally. Thank you, Surfnet.
