Scalyhead Sculpin

The scalyhead sculpin is a somewhat rare find. This photo was taken at Eric’s Pinnacle dive site in Carmel Bay. They come in a wide variety of colors. The orange coloring around the gills is a common trait. The large cirri, the bristle-like projections between the eyes, are another distinctive characteristic.
