Mountain Students Receive

Loma Prieta and C.T. English alumni Alexis Dorn, Sierra Fong, Mia Fong, and Michaela France were recently awarded generous scholarships from the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.). These four mountain students and other local recipients were honored at a scholarship brunch held at the home of retired Loma teacher, Mrs. Carolyn Dufort, assisted by mountain residents Elaine Bryant, Julie Bourque, and Miriam Watson.

Alexis will enter the University of Puget Sound. Sierra is a pre-med student at the University of California, Los Angeles. Mia is attending medical school at the University of California, Davis, and Michaela is completing her nursing degree at California State University, Sacramento.

P.E.O. is a women’s organization founded in 1869. It is devoted to helping women achieve their educational goals. Last year, California P.E.O. awarded a total of $1.23 million in scholarships to 327 recipients. For more information, visit www.
