Loma Prieta Museum

The annual Mountain History Barbecue will be held on Saturday, September 26, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Mason- Taylor Ranch, 22849 Summit Road. This annual family event will include a barbecue lunch, live music by The Wildcat Mountain Ramblers, old-fashioned children’s games, a scavenger hunt, and a guest historian presentation. Hats, shirts, and local history books will be available to purchase. We will pay special tribute to the Summit Riders Horseman’s Association, which was formed in 1967 to serve the mountain community and is now closing.

The event will be held in our historic redwood grove. The property was homesteaded by the Schultheis family in 1851 and includes early Native American sacred sites, the location where Mountain Charlie recovered after a grizzly bear attack, early farming and farm buildings, old wagon roads, a Georgian Victorian house, and more.
