Mountain School

Save the date for Mountain School’s annual May Day celebration on Sunday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event will be at the little red schoolhouse on the Lakeside School campus, 19621 Black Road. Join us for live music, carnival games, the Maypole dance, lunch, a farmer’s market, auction items, and more. The cost is $75 for a family pass that includes two adults and two children.

If you are exploring preschool options for your child, our May Day celebration is a great way to see our school environment and meet other families. Enrollment is now open for summer camps and 2026-2027. We offer a nature- and play-based, child-directed program. Children explore and develop social skills in a natural environment built for collaborative learning.

The emergent curriculum develops language and school-readiness skills through conversation, discussions, science projects, and special materials. Hikes and field trips challenge children’s physical abilities and encourage their emerging independence.

With their heads adorned with flower crowns, our students will participate in springtime music, culminating with the fifth-grade Maypole dance. This time- honored ritual or weaving an intricate ribbon pattern around the pole dates back generations at Lakeside School.
