Cups of Yoga

Celebrate the energy of Beltane, the ancient May Day fire festival that marks the blossoming of spring and the approach of summer. Cups of Yoga invites you to join us on Saturday, April 25, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., for an immersive sound bath that allows you to slow down, rest deeply, and reconnect with the fertile, creative energy of the season.

Crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, Koshi chimes, and other healing instruments will guide your nervous system into deep relaxation and restoration. The afternoon begins with a gentle meditation and reflective journaling inspired by Beltane themes of passion, fertility, creativity, and abundance, followed by a transformative sound bath. We’ll close with time to rehydrate, reflect, and share. Bring a yoga mat, pillow, eye pillow, and water. The studio will provide bolsters, blankets, and blocks.

Theatre in the Mountains Mountain’s Got Talent: A Community Talent Show Chris Arns Do you sing, dance, juggle, strum, or surprise? This summer, Theatre in the Mountains invites performers aged eight to 100 to audition for Mountain’s Got Talent. We welcome solos, duos, and groups.

This community talent showcase will be performed for three nights under the open sky at the Redwood Amphitheater behind the Loma Prieta Playfield, 23845 Summit Road. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or stepping into the spotlight for the first time, we want to see what you’ve got. Want to be in the in the show, but not sure what to do?

We can help you workshop your talent. In-person auditions will be held on Thursday and Friday, May 14 and 15, and Friday, May 22. If you can’t make it in person, submit a video audition by Friday, May 14. Performances will be Friday through Sunday, August 14 to 16.

Loma Prieta Museum The Lost Town of Loma Prieta A History Presentation and Tour of Nisene Marks State Park Roger Mason Join us for a free community event showcasing the interesting and educational of Nisene Marks State Park on Thursday, May 7, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Loma Prieta Elementary School Forum.

California State Park interpreters Paul Karz and Ryan Ortiz will share their knowledge and pictures of the park and the “lost” town of Loma Prieta. To delve further into the history of this area, Paul and Ryan will lead a tour of the park on Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to noon. The tour will explore not only the lost town of Loma Prieta, but other historical sites, including the epicenter of the 1989 earthquake. We’ll meet at the Porter Family Picnic Area for the relatively easy two-mile hike. Check our website for more details.

Santa Cruz County History Fair. The annual Santa Cruz County History Fair will be held at the London Nelson Community Center, 301 Center Street in Santa Cruz, on Saturday, May 16, from noon to 4 p.m. About thirty local museums and parks will display history at their booths. If you like , this one-day event is well worth attending.

They include A Howling Wilderness, Dr. Stephen Payne’s book about the early settlers of the Summit Area ($25); Harvest of Change, Stephen’s book about the of Santa Clara County ($35); and Holy City, a book about the history of Holy City by Betty Lewis ($25).
