Stanford Blood Drive

The Loma Prieta Community Foundation hosts the next Stanford blood drive on the mountain on Saturday, March 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The blood drive takes place in the Loma Prieta Community Room, 23845 Summit Road, next to Building Blocks Preschool. Sign up to donate at sbcdonor.org, and select the Summit Road location.
At the last blood drive in January, we welcomed 33 donors, seven of whom were first-time donors. These donations impacted 73 lives. Thank you. Future blood drives in 2025 will be held on the following Saturdays: May 17, July 19, September 20, and November 15.

Los Gatos Community Concert Italian Saxophone Quartet Kathy Morgan The Italian Saxophone Quartet, a musical powerhouse for 40 years, will kick off the Los Gatos Community Concert Series’ 2024-2025 season. They will perform on Sunday, March 30, at 2:30 p.m., at the Los Gatos Methodist Church, across the street from Los Gatos High School at 111 Church Street.
This talented quartet has performed over 140 concerts in the last four years. Their upcoming schedule includes important festivals such as Festival delle Nazioni (Italy), the Palaces of St. Petersburg Festival (Russia), and now the Los Gatos Concert Series at the Los Gatos Methodist Church!
The Herald Tribune says that the Quartet “rocked the house with a program that spanned the globe and the musical styles...From Scarlatti to Gershwin, the quartet made their own gems of transcriptions.” Tickets are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors, $5 for students, and can be purchased at the door. Doors open at 2 p.m.
Local Author Beyond Text Bookstore Event Shelley Adina Local mountain authors will be featured at a two-day author event at Beyond Text Bookstore on Saturday and Sunday, March 22 and 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. Beyond Text is located at 318 North Santa Cruz Avenue in Los Gatos.
An author panel on Saturday, March 22, will include Redwood Estates resident and author Dr. Shelley Bates, along with women’s fiction author Jennifer Skully and actress and teacher Patty Flores Reinhart. Another panel discussion on Sunday, March 23, will include local mountain author C.
Lee McKenzie, along with mystery writer Donna Rowell and crime-fiction author Stephen Houser. The panelists will discuss book publishing and their writing journeys from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by book signings from 3 to 4 p.m.
